National Treasure (2004)

Wow!  Almost twenty years!  Still a very enjoyable movie.  Treasure hunting and solving for clues were always fun.  This one was about American history.  Of course there was not a map behind the Declaration of Independence, but I learned a lot.

Kaohsiung International Airport / 高雄小港國際機場

Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH) sure has a strange idea of motherhood.  These pictures were taken on 24 May 2023, weeks after Mother's Day.  These posters were still hanging from the ceiling.  All of them were villains.  Only one, Snow White's stepmother, could only be counted as a mother.

So, Mother's Day was for villains?

KHH also has a lot of Stitch from Lilo & Stitch.  I'm guessing as long as it's Disney, the staff just put it up for whatever reason?

Or maybe KHH thinks these villains are good mothers?  As I get older and older, I'm beginning to side with villains in movies.  Maybe as I become even older, I'll agree these villains are great mothers.

Happy Mother's Day 2023 & Pumpkin Pie Spiced Pancakes

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Dry Ingredients:

• 1 cup flour
• 1 tspn baking powder
• 1 tspn pumpkin pie spice
• ⅜ tspn salt

Wet Ingredients:

• ⅔ cup milk + 3 tbspn milk
• 1 egg
• 1 tbspn butter (melted)
• 1 tbspn honey
• 1 tspn vanilla extract

Note:  I don't know if vanilla extract and pumpkin pie spice are normal in pancakes.  Math Teacher bought them during Thanksgiving thinking we'd make pumpkin pie; that didn't happen.  So now I have a lot of leftovers.  Anyway, cinnamon-and-vanilla-flavored pancakes didn't sound too bad.

Steps:

1. Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl.  Definitely do this step first.  Then I'll have clean measuring cups and spoons for the wet ingredients.
2. Combine all wet ingredients in another large bowl.
3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.  Fold the mixture and make sure no flour lumps.  I started out with ⅔ cup milk.  If it looked dry or thick batter (I like a thinner batter), then I added one more tablespoon of milk.  Today I added three tablespoons.
4. Fry the pancakes in a nonstick pan.  The butter in the batter was greasy enough that I didn't need to add more to the pan.
5. Wait for the bubbles to rise to the top of the pancakes.  Flip.  Cook a few minutes more on the other side.  Continue with the rest of the batter.
6. Serve with more honey, more butter, or fruits.

Pumpkin Pie Spiced Pancakes

I couldn't taste much of the vanilla extract.  I could taste the pumpkin pie spice; it was actually quite nice.  Maybe from now on I'll keep adding pumpkin pie spice to pancakes.

The Northman (2022)

I don't know what to think.  There was a lot more hallucination than I had anticipated.  I thought it was Vikings killing each other.  And I didn't really see the point of the revenge.  The traitors were already banished to Iceland.  They'd probably eventually die out anyway.

The trailer led Math Teacher to believe there were boobies.  There was one scene of three seconds of butt.  That was it.  All other nude scenes were covered in smoke, fog, or props.  Math Teacher was disappointed.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)

I cried and cried.  This was not right.  The only movie studio that could make me cry was Pixar, and Pixar hasn't made me cried for several movies now.

Guardians of the Galaxy was supposed to be one big dance party.  Why did they make a movie that tugged on everyone's heartstring?  Thank goodness Guardians redeemed itself by having a happy ending.  And a dance party!

さんるーむ / Sun Room

One of the extremely rare chain restaurants in Japan that offers a vegetarian set.  Everything was delicious.  The plates were also very beautiful.

What's funny is, Sunroom in Sapporo offers an English menu.  Sunroom in Tokyo does not have an English menu.  Which one is the more metropolitan city?

Originally posted on 22 August 2022:  The best thing at むさしの森珈琲 was the fruits iced coffee. I never knew pineapples marinated in black coffee could be so sweet and delicious. Orange slices were good, too. Strawberries and kiwis were only ok. Lemons marinated in black coffee somehow turned bitter.

Other things on the menu tended to be smaller portions and loaded with sugar, cream, syrup, and everything unhealthy.

However, the restaurant was built to have customers sit here all day. It was a good place to visit once in awhile.

Updated on 01 May 2023:  Closed at the beginning of 2023.  Don't know why.  It always looked busy.  I did notice the fruits in coffee decreased a significant amount a few months before it closed.
